자유의 함성(Battle Cry of Freedom)은 남북전쟁 당시 불렸던 노래이다. 1862년에 미국 작곡가 “조지 F. 루트”(Geroge Frederick Root)가 작곡하였다.
원래는 북부의 미합중국에서 불려지던 노래였으나, 남부의 작곡가 “H. L. 슈라이너”(H. L. Schreiner)와 작사가 “W. H. 반즈”(W. H. Barnes)에 의해 남부의 아메리카 연합국을 옹호하는 내용으로 개사되었다. 그 결과, 이 노래는 아메리카 연합국에서도 불러지기 시작했다.
링컨(영화)의 OST로 쓰이기도 했는데, # 실제로 1864년 미국 대통령 선거 때 개사되어 선거송으로 쓰인 적이 있다.1. 북부 ✎ ⊖
